Fees
CubeTerminal is free — no subscription, no signup, no seat license. The product is funded by a small builder fee collected on the trades you place through it. This page explains exactly what you pay, and why it's structured to reward volume and referrals.
Hyperliquid builder fee
Perp orders routed to Hyperliquid carry a builder fee that starts at 1.5 bps (0.015%) and steps down as your rolling 30-day volume grows:
| 30-day volume | Builder fee |
|---|---|
| ≥ $0 | 1.5 bps |
| ≥ $1M | 1.2 bps |
| ≥ $5M | 1.0 bps |
| ≥ $25M | 0.8 bps |
The tier is picked automatically from your Hyperliquid volume — there's nothing to toggle. As you cross a threshold your rate drops on the next order.
You approve Hyperliquid's builder fee once, and that approval authorizes a ceiling of 0.05% (5 bps) — the maximum the builder is ever allowed to charge. That ceiling is not the fee you pay. The rate actually charged is the ladder above, capped far below the approval, so no order ever hits the ceiling and you never have to re-approve.
Approval is a single gasless signature. On Hyperliquid it's signed silently by your agent/terminal wallet — no extension popup per order.
Referred users pay less, forever
Anyone who joins with a referral code is locked to the Tier-1 rate (1.2 bps) permanently, from their very first trade, with no volume grind. If your own 30-day volume later earns you an even lower tier, you keep the better rate.
See Referrals for how to mint a code, use one, and earn a share of your referees' builder fees (paid monthly in USDC on Arbitrum). Rankings are on the Leaderboard.
Phoenix builder fee
On-chain perps traded through Phoenix collect 5 bps via Phoenix's own builder program, charged on liquidity-removing (taker) fills. This is the standard Phoenix fee you'd pay trading Phoenix anywhere — there's no extra CubeTerminal markup on top.
Swap platform fee
On-chain swaps (the Swap widget and every quick-buy/quick-sell that routes through it) carry a separate platform fee of 0.4% (40 bps) on the output amount, collected by the aggregator. It's independent of the perp builder fees above and applies to Solana (Jupiter) and EVM (0x) routes alike.
On Jupiter Ultra routes the fee is clamped to Jupiter's supported range and is only taken when a fee token account exists for the output token. The quote and confirmation always show the fee that will be charged before you sign.
Why a builder fee?
The builder fee is what keeps CubeTerminal free and self-custodial. There's no account to sell, no data to resell, and your keys never leave your browser — the terminal earns only when you trade, and the more you trade the less each fill costs. Referrals push that even further: you can hand your community the lowest tier from day one and earn a cut of the fees they generate. See Referrals.
